I used to be the type of girl who always came up with excuses not to move. I’d always choose the lazy way out. I never would have thought that one day I’d be the type of girl who is always active and on the go.
The day I made exercise part of my life was the day everything changed for me. I became strong, healthy, and confident.
Exercise can be fun. It can become a habit and be an integral part of your lifestyle.
6 Tips to make exercise part of your lifestyle
Find a Workout you enjoy
Exercise should be something that you like to do. And just like in any relationship, you may not fall in love with her right away. Especially if you’ve been sedentary your whole life, it will take your body and mind some time to get used to it.
If you are thinking “but I hate exercising, there is no way I can enjoy it”,
You may not have been able to enjoy exercise until now, but that doesn’t mean that will be the case forever. That doesn’t mean you hate all forms of exercise. It used to cost me too much to go to training, but now I exercise every day, not because I have to, but because I really love it.
Be open minded and try new things. Yoga, Pilates, running, tennis, dancing, even just walking… Really, there are so many options!
Start Small
Exercise doesn’t have to make you sweat like crazy or be super intense to be effective. In fact, just 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week can improve your health, according to experts. That’s just 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week!
Start by setting a goal of only moving for 30 minutes a day and work your way up from there. You should not demand and exhaust yourself, you must make it sustainable and enjoyable. So, take small steps.
Slow but sure, as they say.
No excuses
There will be days when you won’t feel like exercising. Sometimes that is justified (for example, if you are sick). But, if it’s just an excuse, go through “not feeling like it,” do it anyway.
On days when it’s particularly difficult for you to motivate yourself, set a goal to train for only 5-10 minutes. That’s it, just a few minutes. Getting started is usually the hardest part. Once you start, you will see that it is easier to continue.
Don’t try to be someone you are not
Avoid comparing yourself to others. You are on your own path and your progress is yours!
You will always meet people who are stronger than you, or better than you in a certain sport or activity. If you start comparing yourself to them, you will only get depressed. Instead, think about how far you’ve come. Being the best version of yourself is all you need to focus on.
Make sure you get enough sleep
One of the most important things to make exercise a part of your daily life is to make sure you get enough sleep. The better you sleep, the more energy you will have, the more motivated you will be to exercise. Exercising will also help you sleep better!
keep it simple
If you go to a gym that is an hour from your home, you probably don’t go very often. On the other hand, if you exercise at home, it’s harder to find an excuse.
Making exercise something you do every day will help you be happier, more confident, and stronger. Enjoy it!
